Happy Spring!

Happy spring from Cheese and Weim! I’ve gone completely dead in my blog writing lately but it’s not for all bad reasons! Mostly because it’s gotten nice out here, finally, after a brutal winter. With the nice weather comes a lot of events and general “I need to get out of the house and outside” feelings. I’ve been working on some new recipes and feel confident that I will be posting up a storm for the grilling season soon!

Until then here are some highlights of what we’ve been up to here and my favorite summer kick off salad.

Grill season has begun! My favorite, portobellos!

Top off in the lovely New England Romance jeep!

My delicious birthday dinner with wonderful friends (No, I didn’t cook)

 Clearly from my sister.

In lieu of birthday flowers my boss got me some awesome plants and herbs for my garden!

Portia rolling around with her cousin Kershaw who is all grown now!

Green grass and trees blooming at work

Since I’ve finally stopped thinking that it’s still just going to start snowing again any day now, I decided to make my favorite macaroni salad. My mom always made this for us when we were kids and even though it’s simple and I make it all the time it just tastes like summer to me.

Getting all NOSTALGIC up in here tonight.

Mama’s Macaroni Salad

  • 1 lb elbow macaroni
  • 3/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp White Vinegar
  • 1 large green bell pepper
  • 1 medium red onion
  • 4 stalks celery
  • 1 can black olives
  • handful of chopped parsley
  • salt and pepper

Directions: You know how to boil pasta and chop up veggies. Make it, it’s darn tasty!

See you soon with some new recipes to jazz things up!

This post makes me smile – and I’m glad you shared this recipe because I’m totally going to make it. Can I sub for green olives because you know how weird I am?

Haha thanks! You can but it might over power the flavor. I would omit them if anything!
